Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Berkshires is an organization providing free essential health care services for the uninsured. Even after the Affordable Care Act passed in 2019, an estimated 31 million people still lack health insurance, 10% of the nation’s population. In 2019, VIM treated nearly 1,000 uninsured residents over 6,099 individual visits, up 35% since 2016. These essential services provide support for residents struggling financially, alleviating the health burden for them.
