The American Lung Association of Western Massachusetts offers information on issues regarding the lungs and how to prevent/control lung disease, education materials, counseling, smoking cessation programs, day camp for children with asthma, information on environmental pollutants, and radon testing programs. American Red Cross
The American Red Cross offers 24-hour assistance for disaster victims, medical transportation, blood services, HIV/AIDS education and assistance for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. They also have services for the military and their famlies, homeless prevention services and sheltering. They offer training for First Aid, CPR, AED, water safety, babysitting, lifeguard education, nurse assistant training, and a caregivers program. Additionally, they have a food pantry, the Berkshires Bounty perishable food distribution, and international tracing services. They also do work with volunteer development and youth leadership programs.

Berkshire Nursing Families
Berkshire Nursing Families offers comprehensive lactation support program. Family Life Support Center Louison House
Family Life Support Center (FLSC) is a private, 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that was established in 1990 by local agencies to address the issue of homelessness that had become more pervasive as a result of the economic decline in Northern Berkshire County during the 1980’s. Over the past twenty years, FLSC has provided homelessness prevention and housing services to over 3,500 individuals and families throughout Berkshire County. Today, FLSC is the only comprehensive homelessness provider in Northern Berkshire County offering both housing services (transitional and permanent) and supportive services for the homeless.

Meals on Wheels
The Meals On Wheels Association of America is the oldest and largest membership organization supporting the national network of more than 5,000 Senior Nutrition Programs that operate in all 50 states and U.S. territories. The tireless work of these programs – supported by a dedicated army of 2 million volunteers – delivers a nutritious meal, a warm smile and a safety check that helps keep 2.5 million seniors healthy, safe and living independently in their own homes each year.
In Williamstown, local churches in walking distance from Williams College organize the collection of baked goods and food preparation. Meals are prepared on Saturday mornings and delivered on Sundays. The Methodist and Baptist churches alternate meal duties on the first Sunday of the month, St. Patrick’s on the second, St. John’s on the third, and the First Congregational Church is responsible for the 4th Sunday.

Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires
Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Berkshires is an organization providing free essential health care services for the uninsured. Even after the Affordable Care Act passed in 2019, an estimated 31 million people still lack health insurance, 10% of the nation’s population. In 2019, VIM treated nearly 1,000 uninsured residents over 6,099 individual visits, up 35% since 2016. These essential services provide support for residents struggling financially, alleviating the health burden for them.
